NEET-PG Application Form — Steps, Fee, Photo Specs and Edit Window

The NEET-PG application is filled once a year on the NBEMS website. Most of what goes wrong happens here: a name that doesn't match your certificate, a rejected photo, or a test state you can't change later. This guide walks through the form in order, using the rules in the NBEMS information bulletin.

Last verified: 30 September 2026 against NBEMS NEET-PG 2026 Information Bulletin, NEET-PG 2026 User Manual and natboard.edu.in NEET-PG page.

Quick Answer

Apply only on natboard.edu.in: create a user ID, fill your details, choose 3 test states, upload a recent photo, webcam photo, signature and left thumb impression (each JPG under 80 KB), upload address proof, pay the fee (₹3,500 General/OBC/EWS, ₹2,500 SC/ST/PwBD in 2026) and submit. Name, email, mobile and test states can never be edited.

When does the NEET-PG application open?

NBEMS announces the window in the information bulletin for each year. For NEET-PG 2026, registration opened on 1 July 2026 (5:00 PM) and closed at 11:55 PM on the last day, followed by two correction windows. The 2027 dates are not out yet; the table shows how the 2026 cycle ran so you know what to expect.

How do I fill the NEET-PG application form, step by step?

  1. Create a user ID. Register on the NEET-PG page of natboard.edu.in with your full name exactly as on your MBBS (primary medical qualification) certificate, date of birth, email and mobile number. The email is verified by OTP and becomes NBEMS's main channel to you.
  2. Fill the application. Personal, category, PwBD, identification (Aadhaar is optional), academic and internship details, plus correspondence and permanent address. Keep your MBBS aggregate percentage handy: NBEMS uses it as a tie-breaker.
  3. Choose 3 test states. You pick 3 preferred test states, not cities. The first must be the state of your correspondence address; the other two come from the listed zones. NBEMS allots the city and centre.
  4. Upload images and address proof. A recent studio photo, a live webcam photo, your signature, your left thumb impression and one document proving your correspondence address.
  5. Pay the fee. Pay online through the payment gateway (UPI, or credit / debit cards issued by banks in India, through the payment gateway). The application is complete only when the payment status shows "S" (successful).
  6. Preview, declare and submit. Preview the whole form, agree to the declaration and submit. Download the application PDF: NBEMS says it will not be available after the result.

NBEMS advises filling the form on a computer with a current browser, not a phone, and clearing the browser cache first. The form can be completed over several sittings until you submit. For a screen-by-screen walkthrough of the 2026 form, see our NEET-PG 2026 registration guide.

What are the photo, signature and thumb impression specifications?

ImageSpecification
Uploaded photoColour, white background, JPG/JPEG under 80 KB, not older than 3 months, face 70–80% of the frame, full face with ears, neck and shoulders, neutral expression. A studio photo is preferred.
Webcam photoCaptured live in the form with the “Capture Photo” button: formal clothes, white background, bright light on your face, nobody else in the frame.
SignatureFull signature (not initials) in black or blue ink inside a 3.5 cm × 1.5 cm (width × height) box on plain white paper; crop to the box; scan at 200 dpi or photograph it; JPG under 80 KB.
Left thumb impressionBlue or black ink pad, clear print inside a 3.5 cm × 1.5 cm (width × height) box, crop to the box, JPG under 80 KB.

Photos that are selfies, black and white, blurred, retouched, taken with spectacles, a cap or a stethoscope, or that show an object in the background are rejected. The bulletin is blunt about why this matters: your face is matched against the uploaded photo on exam day, and a gross mismatch leads to rejection. Full rules: NBEMS image upload instructions.

Which documents do I need?

Besides the four images, you upload proof of your correspondence address. Any one document from the bulletin list is enough, for example:

  • Aadhaar (with address), Voter ID, passport, driving licence, ration card or domicile certificate
  • State Medical Council registration, MBBS degree / provisional certificate or internship completion certificate
  • Utility bill from the last 3 months, bank passbook / statement or registered rent agreement

Keep your MBBS degree or provisional certificate, internship completion certificate, SMC / NMC registration and any category or disability certificate ready too. NBEMS does not verify them at the application stage, but the counselling authority does, and a mismatch then can cost you the seat. Check the conditions on the NEET-PG eligibility page.

What can and can't be changed later?

Only candidates whose payment succeeded can use the Edit Window, and they can change almost everything except:

  • Name
  • Nationality
  • Email ID
  • Mobile number
  • Aadhaar details
  • Correspondence address
  • Test State preferences

If you change your category or PwBD status to one with a higher fee, you pay the difference in the Edit Window; a lower fee is not refunded. Your name, email and mobile number also carry over to MCC counselling registration, so use ones you will keep. If you entered your name wrongly while creating the user ID, NBEMS's advice is to create a new user with the correct name.

What are the most common NEET-PG application mistakes?

  • Name not as on the MBBS certificate. It cannot be edited and must match your photo ID on exam day.
  • An old or home-made photo. More than 3 months old, a selfie, or a busy background all lead to rejection.
  • Paying on the last evening. A payment stuck as “pending” does not complete the application; NBEMS will not extend the window.
  • A shared or temporary email. Every notice, including image rejections, goes there; check spam during the Selective Edit Window.
  • Guessing your MBBS aggregate. It is a tie-breaker and is checked at admission; a wrong figure used to break a tie cancels your candidature.
  • Sharing login details or documents with coaching agents or anyone else. NBEMS warns against it.

After you submit: watch for the test-city slip and the admit card, read how percentiles and tie-breaks decide your rank, and plan your revision from the subject-wise exam analysis. Kinase has NEET-PG PYQs and full mocks in the real five-section format to practise on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I fill the NEET-PG application form?▼
Only online, through the NEET-PG page on natboard.edu.in, the NBEMS website. There is no offline form, and NBEMS rejects applications sent any other way. One candidate may submit only one application.
What is the NEET-PG application fee?▼
For NEET-PG 2026 the fee was ₹3,500 for General, OBC and EWS candidates and ₹2,500 for SC, ST and PwBD candidates, excluding charges applied by the payment gateway. It is not refunded or carried forward, and a submitted form cannot be withdrawn.
What photo size is required for NEET-PG?▼
A colour JPG/JPEG photo under 80 KB, on a white background, not more than 3 months old, with your face filling 70–80% of the frame. No selfies, spectacles, cap or stethoscope. You also capture a live photo through a webcam during the application.
Can I edit my NEET-PG form after submission?▼
Yes, once, in the Edit Window that NBEMS opens after registration closes (for 2026: 25 July – 28 July 2026), but only if your payment succeeded. Name, nationality, email, mobile number, Aadhaar, correspondence address and test-state choices cannot be changed at all.
What is the Selective Edit Window?▼
After the Edit Window, NBEMS checks every uploaded image. If one is rejected, you are told by email and on your dashboard and must re-upload it through the Image Scrutiny tab (for 2026: 31 July – 10 August 2026). There is no further chance after it closes.
Can I choose my NEET-PG exam city?▼
No. You choose 3 preferred test states, and the first must be the state of your correspondence address. NBEMS allots the city and centre based on availability, and tells you the test city before the admit card is released.
What if I am still doing my internship?▼
You can apply if you will complete your one-year internship by the cut-off date NBEMS sets (for 2026: 30 September 2026). Eligibility is checked again at counselling, so the dates in your form must be correct.
