Quick Answer
Across 5,382 recalled NEET PG and INI-CET questions (18 papers, 2017–2026), the most repeated topics are Pathology — General Pathology (138 questions, 17 of 18 papers), Surgery — Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Surgery (136 questions, 18 of 18 papers) and Pathology — Hematopathology (120 questions, 18 of 18 papers). Counts come from Kinase's recall bank, not an official breakdown.
Which topics repeat most across NEET PG and INI-CET?
The 25 topics with the most recalled questions across all subjects. "Papers" counts the exam-years (out of 18) in which at least one question on the topic was recalled. Topics are the chapter-level groups each question is filed under in our bank, so a topic such as General Pathology spans several related concepts.

How have NEET PG and INI-CET question formats changed?
Our editors tag each recalled question with its format. Across all format-tagged questions, 48% are clinical vignettes — a short case followed by the question — and 8% are one-line recall questions. Image-based questions (a photograph, X-ray, ECG, specimen or instrument in the stem) make up 22% of all recalled questions. The table shows how each share moved year by year. Format tagging for 2026 is still in progress.
| Year | Questions | Image-based | Clinical vignette | One-liner | “Most common” | Drug of choice |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2017 | 298 | 12% | 9% | 17% | 19% | 4% |
| 2018 | 669 | 19% | 24% | 7% | 14% | 6% |
| 2019 | 591 | 23% | 27% | 17% | 9% | 6% |
| 2020 | 658 | 20% | 56% | 9% | 3% | 5% |
| 2021 | 596 | 26% | 58% | 4% | 8% | 8% |
| 2022 | 758 | 26% | 47% | 8% | 7% | 6% |
| 2023 | 591 | 25% | 72% | 7% | 9% | 7% |
| 2024 | 595 | 24% | 65% | 2% | 4% | 6% |
| 2025 | 197 | 16% | 49% | 1% | 7% | 9% |
| 2026* | 429 | 22% | 42% | 10% | 4% | 5% |
Image-based = % of all recalled questions whose stem contains an image. Format columns = % of the year's format-tagged questions (a question can carry several tags). * Fewer than 60% of that year's questions are format-tagged so far — treat its format shares as provisional.

How was this data counted?
- Questions in published NEET PG and INI-CET/AIIMS previous-year paper tests in the Kinase bank (tests marked as PYQ, not user-made, name matching NEET PG / INICET / AIIMS). FMGE papers, Daily Practice Papers, Grand Tests, mocks, subject tests and angle-changed practice sets are excluded. Only published, non-deleted questions are counted.
- Each question is counted once per exam-year, even when the same paper is mapped to several courses or tests. A "paper" is one exam-year (for example INI-CET 2023, which combines both sessions of that year).
- Where editors tagged recall provenance in a paper, untagged extra practice items are left out.
- Topics are the chapter-level topics each question is filed under in the question bank (Question → Topic, grouped by Subject). They are broad chapters, not single concepts; subjects with fewer than six topics are flagged as broad.
- Trend compares a topic's share of its subject's questions per calendar year from 2018 onward (years with at least 10 questions in the subject; at least 3 years needed; topics with fewer than 10 questions get no trend label). A least-squares line rising by 5 percentage points or more over the period is "rising", falling by 5 or more is "falling", otherwise "steady". Subject trend uses the subject's share of all questions per year.
- Question formats come from editor tags (a question can carry several). Image-based means the question stem contains an image. Tagging is more complete for some years than others (formatTagged = questions carrying at least one format tag).
- Memory-based recalls: the bank reconstructs papers from candidate recalls and rewords them, so a paper can be incomplete and counts are not an official NBEMS or AIIMS breakdown.
- The number of recalled questions differs by year, so compare shares rather than raw counts across years.
You are welcome to cite these figures with a link to this page and the snapshot date (2026-09-30). The data was compiled by the Kinase Medical Team from the Kinase question bank.
How to read these numbers: previous-year papers are not released in full, so they are rebuilt from candidates' memory-based recalls and every question is reworded. The counts reflect Kinase's recall bank (snapshot 2026-09-30), not an official NBEMS or AIIMS subject or topic breakdown. A recalled paper can be incomplete, so compare shares rather than raw counts between years.
How should you use the most repeated topics?
Treat the list as a revision order, not a syllabus cut. A topic that appears in nearly every paper is worth revising early and practising with previous-year questions; a topic with few questions can still appear, so don't skip it entirely. Pair each subject page with its NEET PG PYQs and INI-CET PYQs, and use the concept guides for the high-yield ideas inside each chapter.
