Quick Answer

AIIMS does not publish subject-wise weightage for INI-CET. In Kinase's recall bank of 3,251 INI-CET and AIIMS PG questions (2018–2026), the most-asked subjects are Medicine (9.8%), Surgery (8.6%), Pharmacology (8.2%), Pathology (8.1%), Microbiology (7.7%). The top seven subjects together account for about 55.8% of recalled questions.

“How many questions come from each subject?” is the first thing most INI-CET aspirants ask, and the honest answer is that nobody outside AIIMS knows exactly. AIIMS publishes the pattern (200 MCQs, +1 / −1/3) but not a subject split, and it does not release the papers. What we can do is count what candidates remembered being asked.

Key Takeaways

  • ✓Based on 3,251 recalled INI-CET / AIIMS PG questions across 9 exam-years (2018–2026) in the Kinase bank
  • ✓Top seven subjects — Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Community Medicine — carry about 55.8%
  • ✓Physiology, Pharmacology and Forensic Medicine take a bigger share in INI-CET than in NEET-PG recalls
  • ✓These are recall counts, not an official AIIMS breakdown. Use them to rank subjects, not to predict exact numbers.

1How we counted

Every question in the published INI-CET and AIIMS PG previous-year paper tests in the Kinase bank is filed under a subject and chapter. We counted each question once per exam-year, left out other exams, mocks and practice sets, and grouped both sessions of a year into one “paper”. The full method and its limits are on the most repeated topics page.

Watch out: Recalls are incomplete. Some years were remembered far better than others, so a raw count partly reflects how many questions candidates recalled that year. Shares are more useful than counts.

3How to use this when you prioritise

  • Big seven first. Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Community Medicine decide most of your score. Make sure each has had a full revision and a full PYQ pass.
  • Do not drop the small ones. Orthopedics, ENT, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiology and Anesthesia are light individually but add up to about 15.1% together, and they are quick to revise.
  • Weight by your own weakness. A subject with a 6% share where you score 40% offers more marks than a 9% subject where you already score 80%.
  • Look inside each subject. Chapter-level repeats matter more than the subject total — see how to use the most repeated INI-CET topics.

Kinase Tip: Run a short timed test in each of the top seven subjects this week. The gap to full marks there (100% minus your score), multiplied by the share above, shows where the next week of revision will earn the most marks.

?Frequently Asked Questions

Does AIIMS publish subject-wise weightage for INI-CET?

No. AIIMS publishes the pattern, marking and syllabus scope, but not how many questions come from each subject, and it does not release the papers. Any weightage table, including ours, is an estimate built from candidate recalls.

Which subject has the most questions in INI-CET?

In the Kinase recall bank, Medicine has the most recalled INI-CET and AIIMS PG questions (319 of 3,251, about 9.8%), followed by Surgery and Pharmacology.

Is INI-CET weightage different from NEET-PG weightage?

Broadly similar, with some differences. In our bank, Physiology, Pharmacology and Forensic Medicine take a larger share of recalled INI-CET questions than of recalled NEET-PG questions. Compare per-subject numbers on the most-repeated-topics pages.

Should I skip low-weight subjects?

No. The six lightest subjects in our data still add up to about 15.1% of recalled INI-CET questions. Revise them in compact blocks rather than skipping them.
